The village with about 1000 inhabitants - mentioned in the early documents as "Dagu or Daag" - has been inhabited since the Neolithic period. The archaeologists have uncovered here findings from the Roman and Iron Ages. The oldest church-bell of Hungary - now can be seen in the Balassa Museum in Esztergom - has been excavated here too. Its catholic church built in neo-classic style is a historical building.

Die etwa 1000 Einwohner zählende Gemeinde, die in einstigen Urkunden als Dagu oder Daag erwähnt wird, ist seit der Steinzeit von Menschen bewohnt, auch Funde aus der Römer und Eisenzeit konnten hier erschlossen werden. Im Mittelalter hatte sie bereits eine Kirche. Interessant ist, daß auf dem Gebiet dieses Dorfes in der Erde die älteste Glocke Ungarn gefunden wurde, die im Balassa-Museum in Esztergom aufbewahrt wird. Historisches Denkmal ist die im klassizistischen Stil erbaute katholische Kirche.

A mintegy 1000 lakosú község - az egykori oklevelekben Dagu vagy Daag - a csiszolt kõkor óta emberi lakhely, római és vaskori leleteket is találtak itt. A középkorban már temploma volt. Érdekesség, hogy a falu területérõl került elõ a földbõl Magyarország legrégebbi harangja, amelyet az esztergomi Balassa Múzeum õriz. Klasszicista stílusú katolikus temploma mûemlék jellegû.
