On the confines of the village Roman findings were uncovered. It is first mentioned in a document from 1181. Its abounding spring is also mentioned in different documents. The inhabitants here grew wine and raised animals. Today a bit more than 1000 people live here. Its church built in Gothic style in the 15th century - but rebuilt later - is now a historic monument.

Its most interesting ancient buildings: the Hounting-seat built in 1850 and the catholic chapel can be found in the nearby Gyarmatpuszta - in the former Sándor-Metternich domain. These buildings are surrounded with 200 horse-chestnut trees planted in the last century.

Funde aus der Römerzeit sind bekannt und urkundlich wird die Ortschaft erstmals 1181 erwähnt. Besschreibungen erwähnen ihre wasserreiche Quelle. Die Einwohner beschäftigen sich traditionell mit Weinbau und Viehzucht. Heute leben hier etwas mehr als 1000 Menschen. Historisches Denkmal ist die im gothischen Stil errichtete, später umgebaute Kirche aus dem 15. Jahrhundert.

Das interessanteste Gebäude des im nahen Gyarmatpuszta, dem Sándor-Metternicht-Herrschaftsgut zu sehenden historischen Gebäudekomplexes sind das im Jahr 1850 erbaute Jagdhaus, beziehungsweise die etwas später errichtete katholische Kapelle, die von 2000, im vorigen Jahrhundert gepflanzten Wildkastanienbäumen umgeben sind.

Határából római leleteket ismerünk, oklevélben 1181-ben említik elõször. Bõvizû forrását leírások említik, a helybeliek hagyományosan szõlõmûveléssel, állattenyésztéssel foglalkoznak. Lakóinak száma ma valamivel több 1000-nél. A 15. században gótikus stílusban épített - késõbb átalakított - temploma mûemlék.

A közeli Gyarmatpusztán, a volt Sándor-Metternich-uradalomban látható mûemlék jellegû épületegyüttesének legérdekesebbike az 1850-ben épült vadászház illetve a valamivel késõbbi katolikus kápolna, amelyeket 2000, a múlt században ültetett vadgesztenyefa vesz körül.
