The origin of its name is questionable. There are experts who say it originates from the word "kém"(spy in English) and the others say that it originates from the name of the plant "komló" (hop in English). For a certain period of time the village belonged to the castle of Gesztes. Today more than 1000 people live here. Its famous son was Ádám Pálóczi Horváth, the presbyterian poet and song-collector. Its historic buildings are from the 18th century : the Baroque parsonage, the presbyterian church with a rococo pulpit and a baptismal font made in the style of the age of Louis XVI., and the building of the neoclassic Hugonnay-mansion.

Über den Ursprung dieses Namens gibt es geteilte Meinungen, von Einigen wird er auf den Namen der Pflanze Hopfen (komló) , von Anderen auf das Wort Spion (kém) zurückgeführt. Das Dorf Gehörte eine Zeit lang zu der Burg von Gesztes. Heute leben mehr als 1000 Einwohner hier. Ádám Pálóczi Horváth, der reformatische Dichter und Liedersammler des 18. Jahrhunderts wurde hier geboren. Historische Gebäude sind das barocke Seelsorgerhaus, die reformatische Kirche mit der Kanzel im Rokokostil und dem Taufbrunnen im Zopfstil, sowie das klassizistische Gebäude des Hugonnay-Herrenhauses.

Neve vitatott eredetû: van, aki a komló növénynévre, más a kémlelõ - kém - szóra vezeti vissza. A falu egy ideig Gesztes várához tartozott. Ma 1.000-nél többen lakják. Jeles szülötte Pálóczi Horváth Ádám, 18. századi református költõ, dalgyûjtõ. A 18. századból való mûemlék jellegû épülete barokk lelkészlakja, református temploma, benne rokokó szószékkel, copf keresztelõkúttal valamint a Hugonnay-kúria klasszicista épülete.
