Mogyorósbánya

Information /  Informationen Információk

The name of the village takes its origin logically from the hazel-bush region. It was inhabited in the ancient times as well. Flint implements, ruins of an earthwork and vessels from the Roman times have been excavated here. This little village became a mining area at the beginning of the 19th century (in its name - "bánya" means "mine" in English - only at the beginning of the 20th century). Besides coal, clay and limestone were mined here. Its population is partly of Slovakian nationality. Today about 800 people live in the village. Among its wine-cellars there are also traditional ones built in popular style, its chapel was built in 1755.

Régtõl lakott hely, kõeszközöket, földvár maradványait, római kori edényeket is találtak itt. A kis település a 19. század elején lett "bánya" bár nevében csak e század elején: a megtalált kõszénkészletek mellett agyagot, mészkövet is fejtettek. Lakossága részben szlovák, lélekszáma 800 körül van. Pincesorában hagyományos népi épületek is találhatók, kápolnája 1755 óta áll a helyén.
