Neszmély

Information /  Informationen Információk

Its name is of Slavic origin. From its archeological findings the ones dating from the Roman times are the most important. For a long time it was a customs place on the frequented commercial road along the Danube. For centuries the village has been famous for its wine which is generally compared with the Rajnai one. Its viticulture in the cellars of the Meleges-hill is reviving again.

The church of the village from the 15th century with its characteristic tower is a historic monument, its outlook today shows the marks of the Baroque style. On the Akasztó-hill from where there is an excellent view to the Danube the ruins of a medieval fortress can be found. Its "stepperegion" covered with sand and loess is a nature conservation area.

Az õsidõk óta lakott település régészeti leletei közül legjelentõsebbek a római kori anyagok. A Duna melletti forgalmas kereskedõúton hosszú ideig vámhely volt. Legnagyobb nevezetessége évszázadokon keresztül a bora, amelyet a rajnaihoz szoktak hasonlítani.

15. századi, jellegzetes tornyú temploma mûemlék, mai külseje barokkot mutat. Az Akasztó-hegyen - ahonnan széles dunai panorámát élvezhet, aki felkapaszkodik - középkori vár romjai láthatók. A Duna neszmélyi szakaszának három szép szigetén a növény- és állatvilág különösen értékes.
