 The etimologists originate the name of this village from the word "séd" - that means little brook. During the history it was usually populated, the most important earthworks of the region have been uncovered here. Since the years of 1700 the inhabitants of German nationality have been in majority: today its population counts 2000 people.Its most famous "product" is the Süttõi red-limestone which was mined by the Roman as well. Later on Italian stone-carvers settled here. Its catholic church is a building as well as the Revicky-mansion in Bikolpuszta (it belongs to the Village). Its famous protected tree is the about 400 years - old so called "Rákóczi limetree", the perimeter of the tree-trunk is about 6 meters.

Die Ethimologen führen den Namen der Siedlung auf "Séd-tõ" zurück, wobei "séd" kleiner Bach bedeutet. In den geschichtlichen Epochen war die Ortschaft größtenteils bewohnt. Die bedeutendsten Erdburgen der Gegend wurden hier entdeckt. Ab den 1700-er Jahren gelangen die deutschen Siedler in die Überzahl. Heute beträgt die Einwohnerzahl etwa 2000.Bekannt ist der süttõer rote Kalkstein, den schon die Römer hier abbauten. Später siedelten sie italienische Bildhauer hier an. Historische Bauwerke sind die katholische Kirche und ebenso das Revicky-Herrenhaus in dem zum Ort gehörenden Bikolpuszta. Die unter Naturschutz stehende, 440 Jahre alte, sogenannte Rákóczi-Linde hat einem Stamm mit einen Umfang von etwa 6 m. 

Séd-tõ, amiben a séd kis patakot jelent - innen származtatják a település nevét az etimológusok. A történeti korokban is többnyire lakott volt, a környék legkomolyabb fölvárait itt tárták fel. Az 1700-as évektõl többségbe kerülnek a német telepesek: a lakosságszám ma 2.000-re tehetõ.Legnevezetesebb terméke a süttõi vörös mészkõ, amelyet már a rómaiak is fejtettek itt, késõbb olasz kõfaragók telepedtek ide. Katolikus temploma mûemlék jellegû, az ide tartozó Bikolpusztán ugyanígy a volt Revicky-kúria. Védett fája a mintegy 400 éves ún. Rákóczi-hárs, melynek törzskerülete több mint 6 méter.
