It was built on a Roman village: the Roman coach uncovered here is now exhibited in the National Museum in Budapest. During the Turkish invasion it became depopulated. Later on its landowner resettled the region with Germans. Today its population counts about 900 inhabitants. Its catholic church - today a historic monument - is of a Gothic origin, but now it shows the characteristic marks of the late Baroque style. Its catholic chapel built in the style of the age of Louis XVI. is also worth mentioning.

 Die Ortschaft entstand auf einer Siedlung aus der Römerzeit. Der hier gefundene römische Wagen ist heute im Nationalmuseum zu sehen. Die während der Türkenzeit ausgestorbene Bevölkerung wurde vom Gutsbesitzer durch angesfedelte Deutsche ersetzt. Die Einwohnerzahl beträgt etwa 900. Die katholische Kirche wurde ursprünglich im gothischen Stil erbaut, trägt aber heute die Züge des spätbarocken Stils. Erwähnenswert ist noch die im Zopfstil erbaute katholische Kapelle.

Római kori településre épült: az itt talált római kocsi ma a Nemzeti Múzeumban látható. A török idõkben elpusztult lakosságot a földbirtokos betelepített németekkel pótolta. Lélekszáma ma 900 körül van. Katolikus temploma gótikus eredetû, ma a késõbarokk stílusjegyeket mutatja, mûemlék jellegû épület. Említendõ még copf stílusú katolikus kápolnája.
