It is one of the most important regions of the country regarding the number of the archeological excavations. From among its findspots the most valuable ones are from the Roman times. In the Middle Ages the village belonged to Esztergom. During the Turkish invasion it was uninhabited, but later on it became populated again.Its historic monuments are the Roman castrum surrounded with a wall and its Baroque catholic church. The disused former mine-shafts - today they are historic monuments of the industry - remind us of its mining-industry. In the skirts of the village the cellars from a special hamlet.Its so-called "rest-house"- for activities of art and education - is also worth mentioning, in which nowadays, from among the old folk-trades the making of husks-puppets and the potmaking are the most popular activities.

Vom archäologischen Gesichtpunkt aus ist dieses Gebiet eines der am besten erforschten territorien des Landes. Von den zahlreichen Fundstellen sind die aus der Römerzeit die reichsten. Im Mittelalter gehörte der Ort meins zu Esztergom, während der Türkenzeit war er unbewohnt, wurde aber später erneut besiedelt.Historische Bauwerke sind das von einer Mauer umgebene römische Castrum und die barocke katholische Kirche. An den Bergbau erinnert die verlassenen und zu den industriehistorischen Denkmalen gehörenden ehemalige Gruben. Am Rande der Ortschaft bilden die Keller ein separates Kellerdorf.Erwähnenswert ist das Haus der Volkskunst, in dem in den letzten Jahren vor allem die Anfertigung von Maisstrohpuppen und das Töpferhandwerk sehr an Popularität gewohnen hat.

A település régészeti szempontból az ország egyik legjobban megkutatott területe. Számos lelõhelye közül leggazdagabbak a római koriak. A középkorban többnyire Esztergomhoz tartozott, a török korban lakatlan, de késõbb újból benépesült.Mûemléke a fallal körülvett római castrum, mûemlék jellegû barokk katolikus temploma. A bányászkodásra emlékeztetnek az elhagyott, ipari mûemlék számba menõ egykori aknák. A település szélén a pincék külön pincefalut alkotnak.Említésre érdemes népmûvészeti alkotóháza, amelyben a népi mesterégek közül az utóbbi években különösen a csuhébáb- készítés, de a fazekasság is igen népszerû.
